The Table in the Wilderness

The Table in the Wilderness
"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." — Psalm 23:5 (ESV)

"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." — Psalm 23:5 (ESV)

Have you ever felt spiritually malnourished in the middle of a dry season? Bills stack up like empty plates, relationships feel as parched as cracked ground, and the promised land seems galaxies away. Yet the Shepherd of Psalm 23 doesn’t just lead us through the wilderness—He spreads a banquet in it.

The table is not set after the enemies leave; it’s prepared while they watch. God’s provision arrives in plain sight of every fear, every doubt, every circumstance that taunts you. The wilderness becomes a dining room, and scarcity becomes a stage for His abundance.Three courses at His wilderness table:

  1. Bread of Presence — daily manna that proves He hasn’t forgotten you.
Collect today’s portion; tomorrow’s will be warm when you wake.
  2. Cup of Overflow — not just enough, but more than enough to silence the lie of “never enough.”
  3. Oil of Anointing — the fragrance of joy that confuses your enemies. When you’re at peace, their accusations lose their sting.

Your enemies are not escorted out; they’re invited to watch a child of God feast on grace they can’t touch.

Pray: Lord, thank You for the table You’ve already set in this wilderness. Teach me to sit, eat, and rejoice in Your presence—even while giants glare. May every bite testify that Your goodness never runs dry. Amen. 🍞🍷

Believe: Believe that abundance is scheduled to appear right where lack seems loudest.

Receive: Receive the courage to RSVP “yes” to a feast in the very place the enemy said you’d starve.

Pray. Believe. Receive.
Where every wilderness turns into a banquet hall of grace.
