The Light in the Shadows

Psalm 27:1 reminds us that God is our light—even in the shadows.

The Light in the Shadows
"The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?" — Psalm 27:1 (NIV)

"The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?" — Psalm 27:1 (NIV)

Have you ever walked through a dark room, feeling your way along the walls, hoping you don’t trip over something unseen? Life can feel like that sometimes—shadows looming, fears growing, and uncertainty casting long, dark shapes. But Psalm 27:1 reminds us that God is our light—even in the shadows.

The psalmist didn’t say, “The LORD is my light when it’s sunny.” He said, “The LORD is my light and my salvation.” Light doesn’t just illuminate the good times; it pierces the darkness, too. When we feel afraid, when shadows close in, that’s when we need the light most. Three ways to find light in the shadows:

  1. Turn Toward the Light
When darkness closes in, turn your face toward God. Just as plants grow toward the sun, let your heart grow toward the One who is your light.
  2. Speak Light into the Shadows
Use words like “peace,” “hope,” and “grace” to counter the darkness. Speak truth into the shadows, and watch them grow smaller.
  3. Trust the Light to Lead
Even when you can’t see the path, trust that the light is there, guiding your steps. God’s presence is your stronghold, and His light will never fail.

Pray:
Father of Light, when shadows close in, remind me that You are my light and my salvation. Help me to turn toward You, speak light into darkness, and trust Your leading. Amen. 🌟

Believe:
Believe that God’s light shines brightest in the darkest places.

Receive:
Receive the peace and strength that come from knowing He is your light and your stronghold.

Pray. Believe. Receive.
Where shadows fade in the presence of His light.
