Rest in the Middle of the Storm

The storm you’re in is not proof that God has left the boat; it’s proof that He’s about to reveal His power. Your job isn’t to calm the waves—it’s to keep your eyes on the One who can.

Rest in the Middle of the Storm
"He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed." — Psalm 107:29 (NIV)

Have you ever been caught in a storm that refused to let up? Bills piling up, relationships unraveling, news headlines screaming fear. The wind howls, the waves crash, and every instinct screams, “Do something!” Yet Scripture shows us a different posture: sometimes the bravest thing we can do is be still and let God do the stilling.

The disciples panicked on the Sea of Galilee while Jesus slept in the stern. Their frantic efforts to save themselves only increased the chaos. But one word from Christ—“Peace, be still”—and the tempest obeyed. The same Voice that calmed the sea can quiet the storms swirling inside us today.

Here are three ways to rest in the storm:

  1. Hand Him the wheel, not the weather report.
Instead of rehearsing how bad the storm is, rehearse how big your God is.
  2. Anchor your soul in Scripture.
Speak Psalm 46:10 out loud: “Be still and know that I am God.” Let His Word be the anchor that keeps your heart from drifting.
  3. Trade striving for staying.
Rest isn’t laziness; it’s warfare. When we rest in God, we declare, “My situation bows to His sovereignty, not my anxiety.”

The storm you’re in is not proof that God has left the boat; it’s proof that He’s about to reveal His power. Your job isn’t to calm the waves—it’s to keep your eyes on the One who can.

Pray: Jesus, the winds feel fierce and the waves feel high. But You are still in my boat. Teach me to rest in Your sovereignty, trust in Your timing, and worship in the whirlwind. Still my heart, then still my storm. In Your name, Amen. 🌊✨

Believe: Believe that the same Voice that silenced the sea is speaking peace over your life right now.

Receive: Receive the supernatural rest that comes from knowing the One who controls every wind and wave.

Pray. Believe. Receive.
